Four weeks ago I brought the mother with 4 new born pups into my home, to shelter them from rain... and they have been with us since then.
But suddenly the mother has stopped feeding the babies and stays away from them most of the time. I can take care of the pups till Oct 25th... after which I will be joining work and won't be able to feed them 5-6 times a day like I am doing now. The babies are all healthy and playful. Three female, one male. Today a vet checked them, gave them de-worming medicine and declared them to be perfectly healthy with good body weight, and ready for adoption. They are now eating rice with chicken stock as well as Pedigree Pro Starter food. Once they are old enough to be bathed with a shampoo they will be really beautiful - I can see that. We will adopt one baby ourselves and another will be adopted by my friend... but the remaining two are waiting to find a home. Their mother is actually trying to take them out to the streets and train them for the "stray" life. I really hope that other "mothers" will come forward and take these babies home. Yes they were born on the street... but surely it's not their fate to go back to the street?
